JEWELLERY CARE
Alloys used for the creation of our collections Acropora, Millepora and Flora: Sterling silver, Sterling silver gold plated and 18k Gold.
Our Tepual collection is made with a particular Japanese alloy called Shibuichi (half copper and half silver) and has a sand finish.
CARE & STORING
We enjoy and appreciate the oxidative process of our jewels. But we understand that most of you would like to enjoy them in their initial state.
If you like to always look shiny with your jewellery, we'll give you a couple of tips to keep your pieces bright.
Store your jewelry in a box or bag in a non-humid environment, preferably not in plastic bags. Moisture can cause rapid oxidation.
To prevent oxidation, we recommend to avoid wearing jewelry when doing sports, swimming and in saunas.
Perfumes can spoil gold plating and promote oxidation of jewelry.
How to wash and polish your jewelry:
Mix a little dish soap with warm water and baking soda. Let the jewelry sit in warm water for no more than 5 minutes and then gently brush it off with a soft toothbrush.
If your jewelry has pearls, avoid dish soap. We recommend just use warm water and baking soda.
GOLDPLATING
The duration of the gold plating depends on the conditions under which your piece is used. Weather and perfume can oxidize and damage the gold plating.
MIW Jewellery strives to provide gold plating with increased durability. Our necklaces and earrings generally last up to 2 years without plating wearing off. We do not apply gold plating on rings since they are constantly exposed to friction and moisture. This causes gold plating to ware off quicker.
We strive to provide high quality, gold plating. If you feel your plating wore off too quickly, please contact us.
